Frylands Wood focuses on outdoor adventure, managed in a way which encourages and enables as many young people as possible to enjoy and experience the benefits of the natural environment. This includes Scouts, Guides, Uniformed Organisations, Schools, Churches and other Youth Groups. We also offer children's birthday parties or corporate away-days. Frylands Wood is a member of the Association of Scout and Guide Centres.

Our Team

Barry is our Centre Manager. He is supported by his wife, Penny, and Mark, the Deputy Centre Manager.
Barry Goswell
Barry Goswell took over as Centre Manager for Frylands Wood in August 2008 after working at Kings College Hospital as a Microbiologist and IT consultant. He has been in Scouting since the age of 10 in Catford and was Group Scout Leader of the 20th Lewisham South Scout Group.
Mark Thomson
Mark Thomson has joined Frylands Wood as Deputy Centre Manager, after 8 years at Broadstone Warren as Senior Instructor. He has been a Scout leader since 1996, and is currently Scout Leader for 1st Mayfield Scout Troop, and District Cub Scout Leader for Ashdown District in East Sussex.
Penny Goswell
Penny supports Barry, focussing mainly on the adminstration and website side of things whilst looking after their two young children. She was a Girl Guide and was Scout Leader at the 20th Lewisham South Scout Group.
