The Archery GB Instructor Award is the new entry level training course for people working in leisure, recreation and educational environments. The course is focused on training learners to deliver fun and safe introductory archery sessions. In 2014 this course replaced the previous Archery Leader 4 day course.
To remain as a recognised archery instructor by Archery GB, your Instructor Award certificate (and Leader Award if assessed under the old scheme) needs to be renewed every third year following your original course completion date. Archery GB will send you a reminder letter and guidelines on how to renew in advance of your certificate expiry date.
You are no longer required to renew by keeping a log book of your activity, and can now renew online, by completing a learning module. It costs £40 to complete and payment can be made online. Once you’ve successfully completed the learning module, Archery GB will post to you an up to date certificate within one month.

Under Section 21 of the Firearms Act 1968 any person who has been sentenced (anywhere in the UK) to a term of imprisonment, youth custody or detention in a young offenders institution for a period of more than three months but less than three years is subject to a five year prohibition from having any firearm or ammunition in his possession. A person who has been sentenced to a term of imprisonment or youth custody for a period in excess of three years is prohibited for life. Suspended sentences do not attract any prohibition.
The NSRA Licence that accompanies the YPS Tutor’s Diploma is valid for five years. It may be renewed if you have been regularly using the qualification so keeping a record or logbook is very important. The minimum level of use is 25 separate occasions over the 5-year period with at least 5 in the 12 months prior to renewal. Applications for renewal must be made to the NSRA before your Licence expires.
Write, quoting your Licence number and enclosing your logbook and a cheque for £10.00, payable to “NSRA”, to: NSRA, Lord Roberts Centre, Bisley Camp, Brookwood, WOKING Surrey, GU24 0NP.
If you want your logbook back, ask for it; otherwise it may be retained.
(Do remember to update your postal address, ‘phone number and email address if any have changed).
