Traverse Wall sessions at Frylands Wood are run on our purpose-built traverse wall between the U18 toilets and the crew hut. Traversing is the act of climbing along a wall rather than up it; the focus is on climbing skills and not the height reached while climbing. Our traverse wall is 4 sided, with 5 routes of varying difficulty. These routes have been designed so that they can be climbed as a continuous loop. For traversing, we use Petzl Panga helmets. Information on this equipment can be found in the equipment bag.
Traverse Wall sessions are normally self-led, so please ensure you read, understand & sign the related ‘Conditions of Use’ before starting the session. It will then be your responsibility to ensure the session is run in as safe a manner as possible, including managing your participants behaviour throughout.
